This project involved full iOS app development alongside a robust admin portal for content curation, creator support, and user management.
Challenges & Solutions
01
Designing for Beginner and Experienced DIYers Alike
To make the app useful for all skill levels:
Developed a step-based project format including tool/material prep, instructions, diagrams, photos, and embedded videos.
Integrated a budgeting tool and per-project cost display to help users plan effectively.
02
Supporting a Creator-Driven Ecosystem
To enable community contributions and creator empowerment:
Built a “Create” section where users can craft and share their own step-by-step project plans.
Designed tools for creators to include images, text, video embeds, and custom categories with their submissions.
03
Engagement & Journaling Features
To help users document and share their progress:
Introduced a “DIY journal” for tracking before-and-after photos and notes throughout each project.
Enabled quick notes and idea logging for capturing inspiration on the go.
Implemented “always-on” mode, so users don’t need to keep waking up their phone mid-project.
04
Social Sharing & Progress Updates
To build community and promote creator content:
Integrated in-app sharing tools for Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
Added sharing prompts after completing steps or journals, turning users into ambassadors for the platform.
