5 Steps To Improve Spam Filtering (IMAP – Stackmail)

A Handy Guide To Decrease Spam In Your Inbox Today

Spam emails are more than just an annoyance — they clutter your inbox, eat up mailbox storage, and can sometimes carry security risks. At NI Web Solutions, we’ve put advanced protections in place for your email (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and enhanced spam filtering).

But here’s the important part: your mailbox gets even smarter when you train it. By taking a few simple steps, you can help the system recognise what’s genuine and what’s spam.

Step 1 – Log Into Stackmail

  • Go to stackmail.com.

  • Enter your email address and password.

  • You’ll see your Inbox, Junk, Deleted, and other folders.

Step 2 – Train Spam from Spam Emails in Inbox

  • Open your Inbox folder.

  • Look for emails that are obviously spam.

  • Select them and click “Spam.”

  • This is the most direct way to train the mailbox.

Step 3 – Train Spam from Deleted Emails

Often Spam emails have already been deleted over time, but it’s not too late to train your mailbox on them.

  • Open your Deleted/Trash folder.

  • Look for emails that are obviously spam.

  • Select them and click “Spam.”

  • This teaches the system directly, even if the message has already been deleted.

Step 4 – Rescue Legitimate Emails from Junk

  • Open your Junk folder.

  • If you find a genuine email there, select it and click “Not Spam.”

  • This tells the filter it made a mistake, and future similar messages should go to your Inbox instead.

Step 5 – Keep Junk Clean

  • Once messages are marked, you don’t need to keep them in the Junk folder.

  • You can delete them immediately or let Stackmail auto-clear Junk after 30 days.

  • This helps free up mailbox storage.
